The head, made from materials usually considered as naturally-occurring waste from spirit making (whisky distillers’ grains, apple pomace, lavender pomace, wood shavings, etc.), is a remarkable technological, aesthetic and environmental breakthrough. Apart from the plant-based binding agent, the materials used are supplied by the distillers themselves, who are thus able to upcycle a raw material that is usually thrown away at the end of their production process.

A manufacturing process designed with economy of materials in mind

Element heads are custom-moulded to suit the distiller's project: the moulds are made to the desired final shape to minimise trimming and therefore the loss of raw material. The manufacture of the body in micro-agglomerated cork optimises the yield of a cork plank compared with the traditional cork-making industry, by using all the suberin that is often left out during the manufacture of tubed corks.

Like the classic Setop range, Setop Element benefits from the Diam guarantee in terms of sensory neutrality and consistency. The DIAMANT® process ensures deep cleaning of the cork using supercritical CO2 at differentiated pressures. Each Setop Diam body is guaranteed to be free from releasable TCA (<0.3ng/L). They are also perfectly consistent from one closure to another, which ensures optimum conservation safety over time.

The Setop Diam Origine option

To go even further !

Since 2017, Diam Bouchage has been offering a bio-sourced range for still wines called Origine by Diam. These corks incorporate a beeswax emulsion and a binder made from 100% plant-based polyols. Depending on the feasibility of the project and the materials used for the head, you can choose to apply this technology to your Setop Element stopper and offer your customers an entirely eco-designed bartop.
